Suzanne Grover sold her first drawing for a nickel when a fellow second-grader commissioned a drawing of a Dallas Cowboy cheerleader.
Her interest in military art stems from being a freelance correspondent, based at Camp Lejuene, for the Military Times. As Soldiers were preparing for war -- their families were preparing for separation. She woke up in the middle of the night with the hourglass idea and quickly sketched a thumbnail on the back of some mail. That sketch was transformed into this unique color drawing poignantly capturing the pain of seperation. SO LONG.
